Day 123 – 8/4/14 - Coral Bay – Cape Range National Park WA

It was about 4am when the backpackers from a couple of sites up decided that it was a good time to discuss, stongly, why they should be able to have another female backpacker to themself. It did allow me an early start to the day!

We had heard a lot of people talk about Cape Range so we were pretty excited about getting there. On the way we stopped off at Exmouth and did the usual stock up however the boys decided that they were going to part with some of their hard earned in exchange for some fishing gear. Each had a list of lures, tackle boxes etc that they were chasing and the local tackle world was more than happy to help them lighten their load. I must say it is a lot easier seeing them spending money on tackle than on bay blades, yugio cards or any of the other fad toys that they usually buy!

We arrived at Pilgramunna Campground and was happy to see a couple of the other camp sites had kids. Keen as they were to have a fish there was no time to kick a footy it was straight onto the water. We anchored up beside a big bommie (a big rock that almost sticks out of the water), selected lures and for each of them I had a test cast or two to be sure they were swimming Ok..2nd cast on Sambo’s and I’ve managed to bring a cod in! Yeah! Unfortunately despite all of our best efforts the next hour was fruitless!

The shower tent came out for the first time on the trip!
Thats not to say we haven't had showers though!

We headed back and spent the rest of the evening getting ourselves ready to chase the ‘bigger’ stuff tomorrow!
